Convolutional neural network for robust pitch determination

Pitch is an important characteristic of speech and is useful for many applications. However, pitch determination in noisy conditions is difficult. In this paper, we propose a supervised learning algorithm to estimate pitch using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Specifically, we use a CNN for pitch candidate selection, and dynamic programming for pitch tracking. Our experimental results show that the proposed method can obtain accurate pitch estimation and they show good generalization ability to new speakers and noisy conditions. We credit the success to the use of CNN, which is suitable for modeling the shift-invariant spectral feature for pitch detection.

Adaptive Backstepping Control for Constrained Systems Using Nonlinear Mapping

In this paper,a novel nonlinear mapping based adaptive backstepping control is presented for nonlinear systems with output constraint to overcome the problems faced by barrier Lyapunov function based backstepping control,such as complex controller structure,small set for initial value of constrained output and extra parameters employment.The constrained output can take any initial value within the output constrained space,so added flexibility is achieved in the control design.By mapping the constrained output into the real number set,the backstepping control design can be directly used for the transformed system,while simultaneously prevent the constraints from being violated.A similar convergence feature is proved between the system and its mapping,so that the stability of the closed-loop system is guaranteed in the sense that all closed-loop signals are uniformly bounded and the tracking error converges to zero asymptotically.Simulation results demonstrate the efectiveness of the proposed control.

Application of GPRS technology in automatic meter reading system

A new automatic meter reading system based on GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) ispresented to meet the demands for the reliability and real time performance of data communication. This scheme utilizes direct connection between GPRS network and internet, setting a server in In-ternet to take the charge of data communication between master station and terminal units for real-time data acquisition and transfer. Its structure and operational principle are introduced in detail. It is characterized by higher speed, great data throughput,teal-time performance and reliable communication.
